The 9th\u00a0 edition of the international Workshop \u201cMosaic: Archaeometry, Technology and Conservation\u201d, is organized by the Cultural Heritage Group of CNR-ISTEC (Faenza, Italy) in collaboration with ISIA Faenza (Higher Institute for Artistic Industries \u2013 Design & Communication), and it will be held in the great hall of ISIA (Palazzo Mazzolani, Corso Mazzini 93, Faenza, Italy) on the 24th and 25th November 2016.<\/p>\n

The present edition is characterized by several changes from the previous ones starting from higher number of topics and the attention on the importance of the science and technology in the mosaic art, as well<\/p>\n

expressed in the title \u201cMosaic: Archaeometry, Technology and Conservation \u2013 Science: a big chance for the<\/p>\n

mosaic art\u201d.<\/p>\n

As \u00a0in \u00a0the \u00a0past \u00a0editions, also \u00a0this \u00a0year, \u00a0the \u00a0Workshop aims \u00a0to \u00a0strengthen more \u00a0and \u00a0more \u00a0its \u00a0role \u00a0of international point of reference for people that work on ancient or contemporary mosaics (conservation scientists, restorers, architects, artists, archaeologists, etc.), maintaining the quality, the multidisciplinary characteristics and the topical interest of the subjects that will be presented and discussed; for this purpose an international scientific committee for the selection of the proposals has been instituted.<\/p>\n

Invited lectures session and poster session will be organized.<\/p>\n

\uf0d8\u00a0 \u00a0Conservation of ancient and contemporary mosaics. Case studies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\uf0d8\u00a0 \u00a0Contemporary mosaic: design, materials, setting techniques. Case studies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\uf0d8\u00a0 \u00a0Mosaic: exhibition, musealization, urban design, interior design, jewelry, fashion accessories.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\uf0d8\u00a0 \u00a0Mosaic: education \u2013 training \u2013 vocational training. Italian and English <\/strong>will be the official languages.<\/p>\n

Two round tables are planned:<\/p>\n

\uf0fc\u00a0 \u00a0Movable supports for the conservation of mosaic fragments: materials and innovative techniques.<\/p>\n

\uf0fc\u00a0 \u00a0Materials and innovative solutions for the contemporary mosaic.<\/p>\n

Proceedings of the workshop, in English language and in electron format, are foreseen.<\/p>\n
